CAD integration

Blue Light Maps can take incidents directly from your Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) or control-room system. The dispatcher creates or updates the incident in the tool they already use; the crews named on it get the job on their devices with the location, priority and a one-tap route, and their acceptance flows back to the control room. No re-keying, no radio read-back of a postcode.

How it works

1. Your CAD sends the incident. A single HTTPS call carries your incident reference, its type and priority, the location and the callsigns to attend.

2. Each callsign’s devices are alerted. Every device carrying one of those callsigns receives a push notification and the incident appears in the app, ready to navigate to.

3. Crews accept in the app. Acceptance is recorded against the incident and the device’s status moves to En route.

4. Your CAD stays in step. Read acceptances back, re-prioritise, add or remove callsigns, close the incident when the job is done, and every affected device is told.

What you need

• A Blue Light Maps account for the integration, set up by us with access to the devices you dispatch to.
• Callsigns that match. Your CAD’s resource names must be the same strings as the callsigns configured on the devices. Several devices can share one callsign, for example a crew with two tablets.
• An HTTPS client. The integration is a small JSON API over HTTPS; there is no software to install on your side.
